LIHUE, HAWAII  – The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation recently presented administrators of Kauai Hospice with $2,000 to support Hospice’s youth bereavement programs.

“It is a pleasure to be among Hospice’s supporters, knowing that our funding will enable Kauai Hospice to help children cope with the loss of a loved one,” shared Meredith Ching, Chair of A&B’s Hawaii Contributions Committee.

A&B has awarded a total of $25,600 to Kauai Hospice since 1991.

The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation is funded by the business activities of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and its subsidiaries.  On Kauai, these subsidiaries include Kauai Coffee® Company; Kauai Commercial Company, A&B Properties, Inc.; Kukui'ula Development Company; and Matson Navigation Company.

Speaking on behalf of Kauai Hospice, Board Vice-President Jim Saylor remarked, “The philosophies of A&B and Kauai Hospice are very similar inasmuch as our primary objectives are to provide an improved quality of life to the people of our community.   We are very thankful for their generous contribution to our organization.”

The mission of Kauai Hospice is to ensure the highest quality of life possible for individuals and their families facing a life-threatening illness; to provide bereavement support to individuals, and to promote an understanding of Hospice services.
