The Arc of Maui receives assistance from Alexander & Baldwin Foundation
The ARC of Maui announced today the generous award of ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE ($1,275.00) DOLLARS AND 00/100 from the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation to purchase much needed equipment to assist in the development of program services in Hana where none currently exist.
President Louis Ferreira explained how grateful we are to have this computer equipment to assist us to establish the Home and Community Based Services (H&CBS) in Hana. Our staff has visited families earlier this year.
In Hana, we were encouraged to learn several families required services for their children where none exist today. This program enables individuals with developmental disabilities to be eligible for the program followed by an Individual Service Plan that outlines the range of services required.
The range of services could be multi-tasks for example, help with shopping, personal grooming, community outings (movies, beach, recreational programs are just a few examples) – all with a certified instructor counselor who will guide the person throughout the day.
Computers are now a necessary equipment. Not only the required reports for the State of Hawaii and the Federal Government who match funds to provide this essential program but to track on a daily basis the growth of the person to highlight their success.
A plan for each person must be completed. Approval by parents or guardians must occur. This practice enables the clients to have a program designed especially for them.
President Ferreira stated on behalf of the Board of Directors, individuals and families who we are proud to serve. We are very grateful. Our staff is so excited to chart the program in this electronic age.
