THE MAUI FARM RECEIVES GRANT FROM A & B FOUNDATION

The Maui Farm, Inc. was recently awarded a $7,500 grant by the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation for support of a project manager to coordinate implementation of the agency’s facilities repair and maintenance program.  "We are very pleased that the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation is continuing its investment in The Maui Farm”, said Executive Director Paula Ambre, “and supports our efforts to ensure that our facilities remain safe, well-maintained, and appropriate as an environment for learning, healing and growing.” 
   
The Maui Farm, Inc. is a nationally accredited, community-based nonprofit organization providing residential services for troubled youth and families including life skills training in healthy `ohana living.  The Maui Farm offers group home and independent living programs for youth ages 12 – 21, and a family strengthening program working with homeless families in transition to self-sufficiency.  Located upcountry in Makawao, The Maui Farm offers its farm-based experiential activities program to provide youth and families with opportunities for skills development and positive experiences with people, plants and animals.

“The Maui Farm’s efforts to serve transitioning youth and families in crisis is impressive and they plan an important role in this community,” said A&B Foundation Chair Meredith J. Ching.  “Our funding for The Maui Farm dates back a dozen years, and is indicative of our appreciation for this program that helps people to help themselves.”
